7-31-2017 – Norco – The Corona-Norco Unified School District was honored for Project Safety Net at the National School Safety Conference & Exposition in Las Vegas.
CNUSD was awarded the Exemplary School Safety Initiative Award by the School Safety Advocacy Council (SSAC), a recognized leader in school safety based services and training.
This year, over 40 nominations were submitted.
The Exemplary School Safety Initiative Award honors Districts nation-wide that have implemented programs that have had a significant impact in school safety and the community. The Project Safety Net Program serves over 53,000 students and their families in the District. A key component to the success of Project Safety Net is the development of innovative partnerships between the district and the Corona Police Department, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, students, parents and community organizations.
“From a national level all of our efforts to keep our schools safe are paying off but it also means we have a tremendous responsibility to continue keeping our students and employees safe,” said Samuel Buenrostro, Deputy Superintendent, Instructional Support, “It’s great, it’s exciting. We also know we have to continue to lead; other districts look to us and we like to share our best practices.”
School safety is of paramount importance to CNUSD and this accolade confirms the District’s ongoing commitment to keeping our campuses safe.
CNUSD also received the award in 2015.
