12-22-17- Norco – Meet Barbara Olson! She is a third-grade teacher at Sierra Vista Elementary School!

Barbara grew up in Ohio and moved to California in 1980. She attended Biola University and California State University, Fullerton.

Barbara began her career with CNUSD in 1986. She has worked at Sierra Vista for 32 years.

Every day is different in her classroom.

“There is no such thing as a typical day,” said Barbara, “Each day is new and exciting.”

Her favorite hobby is hiking with her family. Barbara has two children and two grandchildren. She also has two family pet cats.

Her most memorable experience was being selected as the 2016 Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Teacher of the Year.

Her favorite part about working at CNUSD is the support she receives from her colleagues.

“I appreciate the support I receive from fellow staff members,” said Barbara, “Teaching is rewarding but it can also be exhausting and difficult. I am thankful for the support I receive from my school and district.”

At the end of the day, Barbara takes home a sense of accomplishment.

“I have a sense of accomplishment knowing that I have given my students my best and am hopeful for their future opportunities,” she said.

Barbara has enjoyed working at Sierra Vista.

“I have enjoyed working at Sierra Vista and getting to know many students and staff members over the years,” she said.
