Clara Barton Bears had a special guest read to them for Read Across America. Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Hernandez surprised his sons by reading to them via Skype! Staff Sergeant Hernandez is currently stationed in Chile.

“Not only was this event important to me because it allowed me the opportunity to be involved in my kids’ education,” said Sergeant Hernandez, “But it was also a great opportunity to assist in the development of literacy skills and language development of all children in attendance.”

“I believe Read Across America is an important event because the message behind it is twofold,” said Margaret Greene Lopez, Clara Barton Teacher, “It gets kids excited about reading and publicizes to families and community members the important of literacy.”
